Huckleberry Pie is one of Strawberry Shortcake's friends, who lives, not surprisingly, in a large Huckleberry Pie-shaped cabin, just down the road from Strawberry Shortcake's house. The obvious inspiration for his character was Mark Twain's literary creation Huckleberry Finn, as he bore more than a passing resemblance, from his straw hat and overalls to his tendencies towards fishing and general laziness. With his green and white striped shirt, Huckleberry Pie was for the most part, the sole boy character in a female-dominated franchise, a condition that prevails even in the 2003 reintroduction of the show.

It's startling how fast plants can grow once they get started in the garden. You're overjoyed to see a little sprout; you turn your back on it for a minute and it's six feet tall. Kind of like a teenager. Wrassling with a toppling six-foot-tall plant can be a struggle that is hard on gardeners as well as on blooms and fruit. So corral and support those plants with cages, stakes, trellises and arbors before they become overpowering. Why not just let plants sprawl where they will? For many reasons: to conserve space and fit more into the garden by growing plants up instead of out; to keep fruit and vegetables and foliage off the ground; to encourage a heavier crop; to help fruit ripen by lifting it into the sunlight; to make the crops easier to find and pick; to let air circulate and dry off leaves, which discourages diseases; to keep plants such as thorny roses clear of walkways; and -- for some people -- just to be tidy.

Ernie- Here in Wyoming we do not get as much variety of fall colors as other states, due to the altitude and aridity. Wyoming east of the Continental Divide has almost no oak or maple or shrubbery that produces the bright red foliage in autumn . We get mostly yellow and gold colors from the likes of aspen , elm, and cottonwood trees. One standout red leafed plant we do have is the flowering vine known as Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia). Thanks to a wetter than normal summer rainfall and lack of frost since the Equinox, the autumn of 2015 in Cody Wyoming has been a vintage year for Virginia Creeper. Hey Ern, So, these challenges are addicting. You figure one out and you're forever hooked. Classic Gotic is in Barcelona, and I believe in this street view. At the time the street view was taken, I don't believe Classic Gotic was opened yet, and that area looks like it may have undergone some sort of renovation since then. That being said, I wanted to point out that there are at least three things that triangulate this street view to be that of the Classic Gotic photo. I have circled them in my attached photo. Also... Classic Gotic's blog says it was the first workshop of Pablo Picasso. Interesting! Frank

Hey Ernie, You nailed the location for Classic Gotic, it was on Carrer de la Plata, in that walkway, but has since moved across the street to a new location. If you look at this series, Hanka P begins her walk in front of the Forn Gotic, which apparently closed sometime before May 2012. She makes her way south-east past the former location of Classic Gotic, hard to get a Street View shot down the walkway, but in this one you can see the sign of the new place which was the Picasso, now the Salsa Bar with Oliver. She continues past the former location of the Classic Gotic towards the la Plata Bar. If you look at pic 9, you will see the graffiti is the same. She then continues south-west on Carrera de Merce, probably heading back to the hotel room so her boyfriend can do something about his throbbing boner. BTW, same chick was photo challenge of May 11.
